From an "Other" to Another: ROM 2026

3/31/26, 10:00 AM

This summer, Renewing Our Minds returns to Crikvenica, Croatia June 27-July 4, 2026, for a week of teaching, dialogue, and community built around the theme (An)other.

It's a theme that asks young leaders of tomorrow a deceptively simple question: What does it genuinely mean to encounter someone different from yourself? That question has been at the heart of ROM since 1999.

It's a theme that asks young leaders of tomorrow a deceptively simple question: What does it genuinely mean to encounter someone different from yourself? That question has been at the heart of ROM since 1999.

While religion has caused much division in the Balkan region in the past, through ROM we have seen the power of friendship to overcome divisions and counter the false narratives often perpetuated by society, political leaders, or the media, which frequently treat those different from us as "other." When we engage in "othering," we lay the groundwork for division, conflict, war, and destruction. When we recognize others' inherent dignity and worth, focus on how much we have in common, and appreciate the beauty in diversity, then we lay the groundwork for collaboration and mutual flourishing. This is why we chose "(an)other" as the theme for this year's ROM gathering, where we seek to move from a mindset of "othering" to loving one another.

This summer join with us and our international team of speakers and facilitators working across peacebuilding, trauma care, media, activism, and the arts as we look at (an)other with the eyes of Jesus of Nazareth. Through small groups, service projects, excursions, and evenings of music and community, we will build lasting relationships that transcend geography, ethnicity, religion, and politics.

Registration is open to anyone interested in this topic. The subsidized price is €400 ($475). A limited number of scholarships are available. The application deadline is May 15.
